Union head says e-commerce to rise 50% to 3 tln rbl in 2020

MOSCOW, Dec 29 (PRIME) -- Russia’s e-commerce market will expand by 50% in 2020 to 3 trillion rubles and will account for over 10% of all retail sales, Artyom Sokolov, head of the Russian Online Retail Association (AKIT), told PRIME in an interview published on Tuesday.

“The share of sales via the online channel reached 10.9% of total retail turnover (in January–June). This has never been seen before, it’s a historic maximum. The final figure, as I think, will amount to 10–11%. In money terms, it will stand at over 3 trillion rubles, more than we expected earlier, and 50% higher than last year’s figures.”

Cross-border trade will stay flat in 2020 at some 600 billion rubles.
